The 501c3 called Amigos del Peru is going to close down. Maybe not without an alternate way forward.

From Fr. Ian Montgomery:

Amigos del Peru may cease to function in the USA as a 501c3.  The director and board are working on this decision, and they are working on a way forward.  I spoke with Todd Atwood and he tells me that an alternate way forward is being worked on.  Meanwhile the Bishop of Peru has made the following announcement:

Screen Shot 2017-12-30 at 5.01.17 PM This means that individuals will be able to give through another agency or to give  via their local churches of dioceses. These are the only way at present to make tax deductible contributions to the ministry in Peru.  I will update this blog when I have more information. I will be happy to send details for bank transfers to Peru.  Please know that sending personal checks to Peru is unlikely to work as it is expensive and the mail may not get through.  I cannot handle contributions personally.

I am personally sad as I was partly responsible for starting the 501c3.  For several years AdP has had a small board and a director from Texas.  For administrative reasons they are unable to continue.

Please continue to pray for the ministry of the Anglican Church of Peru.  We are fairly small but very energetic and committed to both the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.  Yes I am a priest of the Anglican Church of Peru, and proud of it.  I continue to visit four for five times a year, fostering growth, encouraging clergy and lay leaders, and developing partnerships between congregations, dioceses and the ministry in Peru.

Every blessing for the new year – In Christ – Ian+    December 30, 2017

PS This blog will continue to tell the story of God’s work in Peru via the Anglican Church of Peru; it is one of my personal blogs.  I have trips planned in January, March and May 2018.
